Friday, September 26 to Saturday, September 27, 2014 – Arte De Carnavale – 4 to 8pm on Friday at Diana Krall Plaza and 7pm Saturday at the VI Conference Centre, Downtown Nanaimo, BC
Displaying talented musicians, dancers, and artisans from around the world, this culturally diverse festival is to be celebrated at the Diana Krall Plaza in celebration of Nanaimo’s various ethnic groups.
With the idea of a port-to-port set list, this festival will include globally recognized performers of dance and music, sporting a 17th century Venetian touch. Promising a wonderful culinary experience, “The Outdoor Café and Bistro” will be available for a meal or refreshments. Canadian resident Lillian O’Brian will be displaying her designer fashions, “AfriCouture” and “Culture Shock,” upon the models down the runway.
Shalema Gannt is a former New York model, founder of the Nanaimo African Heritage Society and Panache Productions. Remaining a strong advocate of multiculturalism and being an instrumental piece of coordinating important Black History activities, Gannt is a fundamental part of this event and our city’s communal development.
