Friday, May 1 to Sunday, May 3, 2015 – Shorebird Festival – various times at the Tofino Botanical Gardens in Tofino, BC
The Shorebird Festival is a celebration of the annual migration of different bird species from late April through May in the Tofino area. Every year, thousands of shorebirds take time to rest in this area as they make their way from South and Central America to the Arctic region.
Some of the bird species that you might catch a glimpse of include plovers, sandpipers, and Whimbrels, among many others. They find refuge in Tofino’s rocky shorelines, protected forest areas, mudflats, and sandy beaches. Other activities held during the event include birding workshops, guest lectures and of course, bird watching.
