Be in awe as you watch flocks of shorebirds like plovers, sandpipers, and Whimbrels fly through the beautiful area of Tofino. Annually, from late April to May, thousands of wonderful birds stop by to feed and rest as they make their way from the South and Central America to their breeding ground in the Arctic region. It’s no wonder these avian species feel at home in Tofino. After all, it’s rich in protected forests, rocky shorelines, sandy beaches and wide mudflats. More than 40 species of shorebirds are attracted to this area in British Columbia. Celebrate this incredible event with the Annual Tofino Shorebird Festival.
