Do you and your kids love to play with Lego? Want an excuse to visit Sidney BC this winter? Are you just looking for something fun to do for Family Day? Downtown Sidney has a full weekend of things to do for you this year! Join in the fun for their 2018 Family Day Weekend, two days full of Lego-based events as well as some other family-friendly activities!
The main Lego Brick Festival will take place from February 10 to 12 from 10am to 4pm each day. Many of downtown Sidney’s restaurants and businesses will be open to families throughout the weekend.
This year, the main theme of the festival is Sports & Recreation. Returning is Canada’s only certified Lego professional, Robin Sather. Come see him build an incredible 6-foot sports themed structure at the Mary Winspear Centre! It will be completed on February 12. Visitors can help Robin put together a mosaic, and there will be a play area with Lego for the kids to enjoy as well as a community open house where you can learn about the latest activities for youth and families in the area.
Saturday kicks off the fun with the Lego Scavenger Hunt. Maps will be available at the Sidney Museum and there will be several event locations for avid hunters to begin their quest. There will be a chance to win a fabulous prize once the hunt is completed!
The Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea will have underwater Lego, and VicLUG will have an intricate display of Lego creations at the Sidney Pier Hotel all weekend. If you and your family want to take a movie break, the Star Cinema will be showing The Lego Movie during the weekend!
Check out the Rock Fish Divers on Sunday as they will be at the Sidney Pier building underwater Lego structures. These will be displayed on live screens on the dock!
Bring your children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews to this Lego-filled event! Keep your eyes peeled for draw boxes and door prize opportunities for fabulous Lego prizes all weekend long!
