Come to Comox this August for the 31st Annual Filberg Music Festival

Come join us this BC Day Long Weekend and celebrate the best of arts, crafts and music from across Canada! The Filberg Festival continues to enjoy its world-wide reputation and 31 years later is still one of western Canada’s longest running and largest juried outdoor arts show.

The 2013 Festival will showcase over 120 artisans and makers of fine art in a variety of media ranging from metalwork, pottery, toys, woodcrafts, jewellery, paintings, glass, textiles and specialty foods.

This year’s invited featured Guest Artist(s) are the Samphire family. This mother, father and daughter team will showcase a variety of functional and sculptural ceramic pieces, as well as a diverse selection of inspiring blown glass. The invited Guest Guild is The Denman & District Lace Club. Established in 1919 they have been recognized as the oldest lace club in North America.

The Filberg Festival is also known for great entertainment and this year’s line-up features the Fred Eaglesmith Travelling Show, Murray McLauchlan, Jim Byrnes, Daniel Lapp, Ridley Bent, Ben Sures, the Sojourners, and of course, Michael Kaeshammer will be back. The annual Blues Panel Concert will showcase Michael Jerome Browne, Ken Hamm, Preston & Bonkowski, and Sam Hurrie. New this year, the Fiddle Panel Concert brings together Daniel Lapp, PEAR, Carli & Julie Kennedy, and Patti Lamoureux. The Great Canadian Songs Concert, which is the traditional close to the Filberg Festival on Monday afternoon, will feature Murray McLauchlan along with Jake Galbraith.

Raffle tickets will be available for purchase as of July 1 through August 5 at the Filberg Lodge Gift Shop, online, and also during the Festival. A $10.00 ticket gives you the opportunity to win an original MONK painting, two return tickets anywhere WestJet flies, two return flights on Harbour Air from Comox to Vancouver and a night at the Hotel Le Soleil, a pottery and glass service set from the Samphire family, a $500 shopping spree at Thrifty Foods, a hand woven wool blanket from the Woolgather’s Guild and coffee for a year from Royston Roasting.

Gate admission is charged at the Filberg Festival, as it is the primary fundraiser for the not-for-profit organization which has the responsibility of repairing and maintaining the Filberg Heritage Lodge and Park’s property and buildings. Advance tickets are available online, or at the Vancouver Island Visitor Centre, Arizona Gifts in the Comox Mall and the I-Hos Gallery as of June 1st; they will also be available at all Vancouver Island Thrifty Foods locations as of June 21st.
