There is only one Canada Day celebration in Quadra Island, and it’s this huge event with all sorts of fantastic events and activities.
Hosted by Nuyumbalees Cultural Center, Canada Day at the Cape is to be held on July 1. Some of the exciting events to watch out for include: tours around the Sacred Potlatch Collection, heritage walks to Captain George Vancouver landing site, rededication of welcome poles, and storytelling by the community elders. There’s also an artisan marketplace that’d entice the shopper in you.
Be on the lookout for many family programs and community feasts. Of course, the highlight is the arrival of the Tribal Journey Canoes brought in by over 1,000 paddlers.
Admission is free but donations are welcome. There are complimentary shuttle services from the ferry dock to the island.
