Thursday, March 12 to Saturday, March 21, 2015 – Phoenix Theatre Presents: Amadeus – 2pm, 7pm, & 8pm on select dates at the Phoenix Theatre in the University of Victoria in Victoria, BC

For many people, Mozart is the greatest musician of all time. Born in Austria as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, he became famous for his operas, symphonies, concertos, and sonatas. His eighteenth-century contemporary Antonio Salieri, another musical genius, described him as “unforgivably brilliant” and an “enemy to be eliminated”.

Presented by the Phoenix Theatre, originally written by Peter Shaffer, and directed by Chari Arespacochaga, this play is a historical fiction chronicle of the memorable rivalry between the two composers, and the twisted plots of Salieri to destroy Mozart and his career. This play is also a recipient of seven Tony Awards including Best Play.

The schedule of performances is as follows:

March 12, 14, 16 to 21 – 8pm.

March 13 – Pre-show lecture at 7pm.

March 21 – Matinee at 2pm.
