Events Parksville & Qualicum

Saturday, May 2, 2015 – 21st Annual Fire & Ice Street Festival – 11am to 3pm at downtown Qualicum Beach in Qualicum, BC – a 30-minute trip from Nanaimo, BC

This May, the twenty-first annual Fire and Ice Street Festival will once again draw in over 5,000 people from all over to partake in different attractions and activities that make for a wonderful family day. This year’s theme at the festival is “The Fairy Tale Life – Princesses & Villians”.

The “fire” aspect of the festival is the Chili Cook Off competition among local Qualicum businesses, restaurants, and resorts. Owners set up booths along the street to offer their specialty chili. The “ice” aspect is the ice-carving contest set up in different locations alongside the food booths. About 15 master ice sculptors will go head to head to create amazing ice sculptures. There are also other icy food items available for sampling such as ice cream.

Other activities to look forward to at this event are live music and entertainment, face painting, pony rides, storytelling, and balloon making. You can also start the day off by partaking in a Pancake Breakfast offered by the Qualicum Beach Legion from 8:30 to 11:30am, at 180 Veterans Way.
