Are you interested in learning the Japanese martial art using the Samurai sword? If yes, then you must not miss this event: Iaido: Art of the Japanese Sword, happening in Nanaimo from August to December. In this particular technique, the sparring involves using imaginary opponents and set movements referred to as “waza”. Partner exercises can also be done but with the use of the wooden bokken. It’s not just the fighting and sparring that are going to be taught during the sessions. You’ll also learn a great deal about Japanese history, culture and language. This way, you’ll be able to understand more deeply this form of martial art.
