Looking for a unique event that celebrates West Coast nature? Want another reason to visit Tofino? Love birds and beaches? Then stick around or come on over to Tofino this May for the 20th annual Shorebird Festival, which celebrates – you guessed it – the shorebird!
At least 30 different species of shorebirds, from Sandpipers and Whimbrels to Plovers pass through the Tofino area every year during late April and May. In honour of this impressive migration, there will be a series of educational birding activities through the Tofino region. Local and visiting experts on birds will have the chance to attend various guest lectures, boat trips, birding workshops, and more. This is a wonderful opportunity to find out and understand why Tofino is one of the best places on Canada’s west coast to be bird watching.
A full schedule of the various lectures and workshops taking place during the festival are available via the official website.
