The Island Farms Victoria Day Parade is back! Now in its 119th year of celebration, this is one of Victoria’s biggest parade event, complete with marching bands, floats, and more.
This is a free event that’s lots of fun for the whole family and it’s expected that there will be over 120,000 people attending either in person or while watching on TV. Come prepared if you intend to watch the entire parade; it takes place outdoors, after all, and it will take at least 2 hours to pass by. So bring with you a folding chair or blanket, an extra jacket if it’s cool out, an umbrella if it’s raining, hats and sunscreen if it’s sunny, and of course drinks and snacks!
Say hi to Daisy and Farmer Vicki as they lead the parade along with the Canadian Forces, Canadian and American marching bands, musical community and commercial floats, clowns, and cultural entries! The official starting point will be at Mayfair Mall, continuing along Douglas Street, and finishing at the intersection of Douglas and Humboltdt.
There are also lots of exciting giveaways and other events taking place, not just the parade! For more information visit the Greater Victoria Festival Society’s Facebook page.
