One of Nanaimo’s biggest annual summer events returns! The Summertime Blues Festival is exactly what you think it is: a jam-packed weekend filled with world-renowned blues musicians and artists taking to center stage in Nanaimo’s Maffeo Sutton Park. Clap, dance, hum, jive, sway, and sing along to your favourite tunes!
The event kicks off with a benefit concert for the Loaves & Fishes Food Bank starring five regional bands. You can support this local charity and help the hungry and less fortunate by bringing non-perishable food items or a suggested donation of $10. There’s a great lineup of musicians this year, including the following:
- Sonny Landreth
- Shemekia Copeland
- Victor Wainwright and The WildRoots
- Sugar Brown w/ the Travelin’ Blues Show
- James Buddy Rogers
- David Gogo
- And many, many more!
As well as the performances, there will be many vendors and artisans (more than in past years!) to check out as well as a family-friendly zone.
Tickets can be purchased online at the official website (see below). You can also view the full lineup of shows scheduled per day so you don’t miss out on hearing your favourites!
